Community Charge:
The Future of
Urban Mobility
Sponsored by:

Community Charge
Community Charge is the future of accomodating mobility habits. The space fosters community by allowing comfort through ownership of an area, brings down costs and time planning of an electric vehicles travel journey, and translates lost time into time gained through automated charging.
This space operates as an integrated fueling experience for you.

The Ask
There is an opportunity to streamline and rethink the charging station itself for both vehicles and guests. What does it look like to use spatial audio or visuals, haptics or other immersive experiences? How can we create not just a charging port, but a destination?

The Opportunity
The rise of multi-modal mobility and expectations of new shared space models creates an interesting opportunity for charging stations. By answering what it means to truly refuel guests, through social, experiential, or functional means, we can create an innovative mobility hub of the future.
Considering what is a common thread among guests in this space, what drives guests to come here? How can we rethink our interactions? How do we use digital as a means to account for the time spent in the space, rather than accounting for just the physical space?
An all-inclusive third place complete with a hands-free, automated charging vending machine, a productivity space, and a green social space.
1:64 Physical Model
From liminal to memorable space, what does the urban mobility space of the future look like?
While charging stations have evolved to answer to new car innovations, the experience of the physical space itself has not yet evolved to suit the needs of guests. The brick-and-mortar space functions more as a point of friction rather than a continuation of the guests' journey.
How do we use digital and physical design together to go from a moment of stopping and friction to a moment of ease? What does it look like to rethink the physical space and the ways we interact with it?
Concept
Development
Following initial research, our team developed and ideated concepts reflecting a communal charging space for both users and thier modes of transportation.
